Peggy Sue Hammons Powers, 70, of Paducah, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at 11:50 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A daughter of the late Harris and Eskaleen Atwood Hammons, she was a member of Southland Baptist Temple, a secretary for Taylor Homes and a retired secretary from Farley Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Duncan; and four brothers, James Hammons, Harold Hammons, Charles Hammons and BonnyHammons.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jerry Ray Powers; two daughters, Cyndi Adams of Calvert City and Pam Stewart of Sharpe; a son, Jerry Lynn Powers of Paducah; four granddaughters, Summer Allred of Boaz, Savanah Birdsong of Sharpe, Danielle Shaffer and Faith Powers, both of Paducah; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; a sister, Louise Starks of Paducah; and a brother, RonnyHammons of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah with the Rev. Harold Council and the Rev. Jimmy Franks officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southland Baptist Temple Hope For the World Mission Fund or to Southland Baptist Temple C.A.M. Mission Fund, 927 Yarbro Lane, Paducah, Ky. 42003.
