Daughter of Henry Meckes and Susanna Eckhart.

Ella Amanda Meckes was christened 18 Jun 1871 at Salem Union Church as "Ellemanda" Meckes. The sponsors were Adam Eckhardt and his wife.

After her father died, Ella Amanda was raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Peter and Eva Meckes. Ella Amanda and Elmer S. "Spotty" Markley were married 8 Nov 1890 at St. John's (Towamensing) Church by Rev. Kuber (Carbon Co. marriage license #1380). She and her husband raised their nephew, Webster Grant Woodling; and had a child: Thelma Markley b. abt 1911

Ella was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Congregational Church of Weissport and served as superintendent of the primary department of the Sunday school of the church for many years. She was a member of the P.O. of A. Lodge of Parryville; the White Rose Lodge of Lehighton, Daughters of Liberty of Lehighton; Daughters of America of Lehighton; the degree team of Pocahontas Lodge of Weissport.
