Elmer S. "Spotty" Markley married Ella Amanda Meckes (daughter of Henry Meckes and Susanna Eckhart) 8 Nov 1890 in Palmerton, Carbon Co., Pennsylvania.

Elmer Markley owned and operated a shoe store and shoe repair shop in Weissport for 55 years. He was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, Lehighton.

Elmer died in the home of his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Webster G. Woodling, 400 Bridge St., Weissport, with whom he resided. (Obit in Allentown "Morning Call", Thursday, 29 March 1956, pg. 43)
