Silas was the son of Hopkins Fisk, Pennsylvania. He married Louisa Madison in 1844 in Benton, Pennsylvania. He is mentioned in the will of his great grandfather, John Wight of Scituate, RI, as his grandmother, Dorcas Wight Fisk, had already passed. The Wights are descendants of Thomas Wight of Medfield, Massachusetts, first English settlers in that area.
Silas & Louisa had seven children: Elizabeth, Lucy, David,Henry, Silas Emory, Louisa A., and William.
Silas & Louisa came to Saunders County, Nebraska and bought 80 acres near Yutan, NE in 1874 from the Union Pacific RailRoad. In 1878, they homesteaded 80 acres from US Government.
