Services for Mrs. Elaine Rone Thompson, 88, of Ethel were held Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Tabernacle Cemetery.
Mrs. Rone, a lifelong resident of Mississippi, died Jan. 6, 2004 at her residence. She was a former resident of Greenville where she worked with the Greenville Police Department and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School class. Following her retirement and moving to Ethel she was a member of the Ethel United Methodist Church and the Ethel Homemakers Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Nora Ann Whitley of Columbia, S.C.; a son, James Anderson Thompson of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Gwendolyn McCullough of Jackson; a brother, Ralph Rone Sr. of Ethel; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Thompson.
Rev. Doyle Mitchell and Rev. Byrd Hillman officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Ralph Rone Jr., Mark McCullough, Johnny Rone, James Rone, Johnny sides, Andy Bain, Vernon Kimbrough Jr. and Ward Thompson.
Memorials may be made to the Ethel United Methodist Church or Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery fund.
