Born in Staceyville, Mitchell, Iowa, died at the Vetran's Hospital, Hennepin, MN after an extended illness. People.mnhs.org/dci CertId# 1962-MN-005992.

By 1880 the family, which included his siblings Lottie (1/2 sister), Frank and Mattie, (Goldie had not yet been born) lived in LeRoy, Mower, MN, and by 1881 Taopi, Mower, MN where he lived until returning from his service in the Spanish American War.

He established a homestead in Onaka, South Dakota where he met and married Lida Cunningham. He farmed and taught school for several years in Faulk Co., SD. In 1928 he was elected Register of Deeds in Faulk and served 4 years. In 1932 He was elected Clerk of Courts and remained in the position until 1957 when he retired.

After retirement, he and Lida went to Merrill, WI and lived with their daughter Peg and her husband Bud Wurster until he took sick in 1962 and was admitted to the VA Hospital in Snelling where he died.
