Henry Oscar Arehart, 88, died Thursday afternoon (Jan. 9, 1964) at 2:30 at the home of Thomas Lotts at Spottswood.
A son of the late George C.B. and Sara Elizabeth Swisher Arehart, he was born April 20, 1875 in Augusta County.
On June 17, 1896 he married Miss Nora Bell Hawpe, who preceded him in death July 20, 1951.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Annie Coffman, Mrs. Harry (Ophelia) Miller, Mrs. John (Catherine) Croft of Staunton, and Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Lotts of Spottswood; also seven sons, Oscar L. Arehart of Fisherville, H. Christian Arehart, G. Raymond Arehart, Carey D. Arehart of Staunton; Houston L. Arehart, R. Curtis Arehart, and Allen C. Arehart of Newport News.
He also is survived by 30 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews; also three sisters, Mrs. E.L. Harris of Staunton, Mrs. Julia McCray of Middlebrook and Mrs. C.V. Thompson of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held from Bethel Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member, at two p.m. Saturday, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. James Sprunt, D.D., assisted by the Rev. Murray Griffith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of the deceased: Beard Coffman, Richard Lotts, Forrest Arehart, Wallace Arehart, Francis Coffman, and Edward Miller.
Flower bearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Rosen Funeral Home this evening from 7:30 to 8:30.
Pallbearers are requested to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m.
