He was born November 1, 1948 in Tooele, Utah to Alvin Udell Jorgensen and Ida Pearl Garrard.
He proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and received the Purple Heart while on tour in Vietnam. He retired from working at Hill Air Force Base. Dick had several passions: his wife Sveta, fishing, Sveta, and more fishing. He married Svetlana Martchenkova, the love of his life, on November 2, 2002. They spent eight loving years together playing and enjoying life.
Dick always felt the need to stay connected with those he loved. He was a big hearted man with many friends and family who considered him to be a hero in their lives. Dick's favorite time of year was Christmas because he got to play Santa Claus to many children. Dick was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Svetlana, their son Yuri, his brother James Kent and sisters, Debbie Grizzle (Todd) and Gloria Boberg (Joe) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Estates Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
