KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY - 07/21/2005
Charles Leon "Dock" Mattingly, 81, Raywick, died Monday, July 18, 2005, at his residence. He was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Marion County. He was a retired mail carrier and farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clell and Josephine Galloway Mattingly; and a brother, Thomas Jasper "Pete" Mattingly. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen M. Blanford Mattingly; two daughters, Phyllis Marie Daugherty, Raywick, and Gayle Brady, Bardstown; three sons, Thomas Leon Mattingly, New Hope, James Roger Mattingly, St. Francis, and Richard O'Hara Mattingly, Raywick; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; four sisters, Irene "Sis" Cambron and Joyce Ann Thomas, both of Raywick, and Virginia "Bussie" Thomas and Diane Mills, both of Louisville; and five brothers, Clell "Al" Mattingly Jr., and Larry "Hawk" Mattingly, both of Raywick, Merriell Mattingly, Lebanon, and Gerald "Jake" Mattingly, Louisville. The funeral Mass is 11 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Church, Raywick, with burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Raywick. The Rev. James W. Graf will be chief celebrant. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Eric Mattingly, Stacy Mattingly, Ritchie Mattingly, Dale Daugherty, Jamie Daugherty and Daniel Brady. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Stephanie Ballard, Amanda Mattingly, Chad Mattingly, Kim Mattingly, Justin Mattingly, Mikki Brady, Kelly Daugherty, Dana Hamilton, Billy Joe Daugherty, Tonya Ritchie and Crystal Brady. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
