He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clell and Josephine Galloway Mattingly; four siblings, Grace I. "Sis" Cambron, Charles Leon "Doc" Mattingly, Thomas Jasper "Pete" Mattingly, and Joseph Merriell Mattingly.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Thompson Mattingly; four children, Carl Mattingly (Pam), Denise Mattingly (Terry), Robbie Mattingly and Trina Mattingly, all of Raywick; eight grandchildren, Nikki Waldeck, Ashley Blandford, Rochelle Lee, Morgan Lee, Daniel Mattingly, Austin Mattingly, Trevor Mattingly and Derek Mattingly; six great grandchildren; five siblings, Virginia "Bussie" Thomas of Louisville, Diane Mills (Tommy), William Gerald "Jake" Mattingly (Karen) and Clell "Al" Mattingly, Jr., all of Louisville and Joyce Ann Thomas of Raywick. A Mass of Resurrection for Joseph Larry "Hawk" Mattingly will be held at 11 Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main St., Raywick. Rev. David W. Naylor will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
A memorial visitation will be held 3-8 pm Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 pm by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorials may go to the cemetery fund c/o St. Francis Xavier Church.
