Anton B. Bax, 94, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in St. Elizabeth, on January 28, 1916, son of the late Joseph Henry and Anna (Dickneite) Bax.

During WWII, he was stationed in Italy and served in the Army and Air Force as a medic. Anton was a member of the VFW, American Legion, St. Joseph's Sodality, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

He is survived by 28 nieces and nephews and many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Leo Bax, August Bax, Adolph Bax, Alphonse Bax, Mary Bax, Catherine Hoecker, Regina Schulte, Martha Berendzen, and Victor Bax; one niece, Lorraine Bax; and one nephew, Bill Berendzen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Daniel Lueckenotte will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of donor's choice.
