"Hjalmer Westby, 79, of Wing River Township passed away at home on July 30th, 1979. He suffered from a heart ailment. He was in failing health in his later years.
He was the son of Halvor and Kari Westby, he was born on April 7th, 1900. He was born in Wing River Township. He attended the rural school. Most of his life was spent doing Carpenter work. He was never married. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Blue Grass.
Hjalmer enjoyed outdoor life, hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He was kind, good hearted and happy to help anyone in time of need.
Those surviving him are Mrs. Herman (Olga) Jordahl, Verndale, Minnesota; and Mrs. Hjalmer (Tina) Lundberg, Concord, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held on August 2nd, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements were with the Howard Folkestad Funeral Home, in Wadena. Fred Carlson, officiated. The services were held at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Blue Grass. Interment was held in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery at Blue Grass.
He lived in a trailer house on Olga and Herman's farm before he died."
