Mr. Eugene Allen Harness, 79, of 1496 Hampton Circle, Goshen, died Saturday, March 14, 1992, at the Palm Beach Garden Medical Center, Lake Park, FL.

He was born May 11, 1912, to Elbert and Golda (Reed) Harness, in Rolling Prairie. Mr. Harness was a 1936 graduate of Depauw University; a Navy veteran of WWII; 33rd degree Mason, Masonic Lodge 12; Scottish Rite of South Bend; Orak Shrine, Michigan City; Maplecrest Country Club, and was a retired band director and music teacher of 28 years for what is now the Fairfield school system.

On Dec. 25, 1938, in La Porte, he married Florence Oakes, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dan A., of Hammond, and one sister, Maxine Worthington, of North Liberty. One sister and three brothers prceded him in death.

The funeral will be at noon La Porte time Friday at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, with Rev. Richard Lyndon officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 5 p.m. La Porte time Thursday, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. La Porte time. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Goshen, or Shriner's Children Hospital.
