Wesley Harness, 69, of San Diego, and formerly of La Porte, died Friday, October 4, 1985, in hospital in San Diego.

He was born January 19, 1916 in La Porte, to Elbert and Golda (Reed) Harness. He was purchasing agent for the City of San Diego, a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, La Porte Masonic Lodge 41, American Legion Post 83, La Porte Baseball Hall of Fame and was a former Chicago Cubs baseball player.

He married Lenore Grondin, who survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Maxine Worthington of North Liberty, and Kathleen Lucas of Phoenix, AZ; and two brothers, Allen of Goshen, and Elbert of La Porte.

A prviate funeral was conducted in San Diego, followed by cremation. The Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary, 3655 Fifth Avenue, was in charge of arrangements.
