Utellus Whittle, the third child of Thomas William and Fidelia Sari Whittle, was born 16 Dec 1880 in Richmond, Utah. He married Edith Amanda Nordquist 2 March 1905 in Marysville, Idaho. She was born 9 December 1887 in Tooele, Utah, the daughter of John Erick and Brella Kathleen (Lundgren) Nordquist.

Utellus worked at farming and homesteaded in Milk River, Montana. He worked away from home while his family lived in Marysville, Idaho. He was raised as a child and young man under the influence of religious and prayerful parents and family life. His hardships were many. He worked for wages as soon as he was old enough to work away from home.

He moved his family to Shelton, Washington, near Tacoma in 1926 and worked in the woods and lumber mill. He was killed in a logging accident 12 September 1937 in Shelton, Washington and is buried there. Utellus and Edith had 12 children. One son was killed when thrown from the wagon when the horses were frightened by a train. One other died as an infant. Edith resides in Shelton and her children live in the Pacific Northwest.

UTELLUS WHITTLE DIES; WAS KIMBEL LOGGING EMPLOYEE
Victim of a short illness, Utellus Whittle, 56, employee of the Kimbel Logging company, died at the Shelton hospital Sunday night after a six-year residence in Shelton.

He was born at Richmond, Utah, December 16, 1880.

Survivors include his wife, Edith, three sons, Sterling, Verner, and Melvin, all of Shelton; five daughters, Miss Irma E. Whittle of Tacoma, Mrs. Myrtle Goldsby, Olympia, and Mrs. Verne Workman, Mrs. Lenore Manney and Mrs. Irene McClellam, all of Shelton; four brothers, Joseph, Ezera, Ernest and Marion, all of Marysville, Idaho, two sisters and five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements haven't been announced.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Witsiers Chapel with burial to be made in Odd Fellows division of Shelton Memorial Park.
