In the early 1880's Mary Olson's parents, Amos & Matilda Olson were parishioners of Walle Lutheran Church in Thompson, North Dakota. In the church records, the date of Mary Olson's baptism was recorded as December 17, 1882. In the baptismal record, her date of birth is given as September 21, 1882. The only record of Mary Olson's birth prior to this discovery of her baptismal record was an "Affidavit of Birth" that was completed and signed by her sister Emma Reynolds Thompson in 1945. That affidavit gave her date of birth as September 25, 1882. It is likely the church record is more accurate as to the date of Mary’s birth.
