William Bierley, Jr. Of Hammond, Dies
William Bierley, Jr., 58, of Hammond, who was born in Rensselaer community died at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday following five months of failing health. He had been hospitalized one week.
He ws employed as a watchman at a steel plant in Hammond.
Mr. Bierley was born on a farm near Rensselaer, the son of William Beirley and Ruth (Biggs) Bierley. He attended school west of Rensselaer and farmed in this community for a number of years after which he made his residence in Seattle, Washington. He was married to Hillis Sayers of that city September 22, 1947. They established residence in Hammond seven years ago.
Surviving him with Mrs. Bierley are three brothers and one sister, Winfred Bierley of Brook, Jess Bierley of Kentland, Rex Bierley of Hammond, and Mrs. Ivan Handley of Rensselaer.
The funeral services will be held from Hershman-Weston Funeral Home in Brook at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Weston cemetery in Rensselaer.
