John Perry Wood was the son of: Abraham Wood (Dec. 1818 - Oct 17, 1890, Posey Township)
and Elizabeth Wools (Dec. 12, 1815 - died after 1870 census for Posey Township, and before Sept. 7, 1879, as husband Abraham has remarried to Anna Hibbs on that date).

John's mother Elizabeth was the daughter of Daniel Wools and Elizabeth Butts.

John was married to Rebecca Emyline Hibbs, and they had the following children:

Nora Alma Miller Emory (May 1876 - Dec. 1943)(Nora was Rebecca Hibbs' Wood's daughter from a previous relationship - raised as John and Rebecca's daughter).

John Perry Wood, 79 years old, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hattie Dooley, 2420 Harding Avenue, at 12:15 a.m. Monday. Besides Mrs. Dooley, he is survived by three other daughters; Mrs. Malissa Bader, Alma Emory and Mrs. Fred Spencer. The body was taken to the Cross and Brooks funeral home. Funeral services are to be held at the Christian Church in Staunton.
