Mrs. Richardson was born January 25, 1924 in Armathwaite, Tennessee as the youngest of six children of Noah Alfred and Margaret Hull Buck. She was a graduate of York Institute. She married in 1947 to the late Hollis Clayton Richardson and celebrated over 52 years of marriage prior to his death in 2000. She worked as temporary Post Master of the Armathwaite Post Office during WWII in relief for her brother, Clyde, during his military service. She was a devoted sister of Major John W. Buck who was a POW of the Red Chinese during and after the Korean War. She was a member of the Fentress County Historical Society and United Methodist Church of Clarksville, TN. She also was an avid Big Orange fan.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Ann Richardson and son-in-law, Gary M. Nuyt; son, Dr. John M. Richardson and wife, Patricia L. Richardson; grandchildren, Michael Nuyt and wife Laura of Chelsea, AL, Bryan Nuyt and Amelia Hendrickson and husband Nicholas of Knoxville, TN, Clay Richardson of Oakland, CA and Kathryn Lowe and husband Aaron of Arvada, CO; great-grandchildren, Zackary and Landon Nuyt of Chelsea, AL and Olivia Hendrickson of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Elma Upchurch Buck; nieces, Virginia Rosser, Jean Markham and Glenda Himes; nephews, Harold Dunford and Gerald Dunford; and numerous grand nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home. Burial following in the Fentress Memorial Gardens.
