A farmer by occupation, he was a member of Easley Church of the Brethen. Surviving are the widow Mrs. Octavia Henderson Cornelius; two sons, Robertis and Velpo, both of Oneonta route one; six daughters, Mrs. Gertha Cerveny, Memphis, Mrs. Inez Hill, Mobile, Mrs. Vennie Thomas, Tulsa Oklahoma, Mrs. Vernia Pyle of Pascagoula, Miss., Mrs. Beatrice Logan and Mrs. Lena Robertson, Oneonta route one; five brothers, Grant, Onenonta; Odus, Loust Fork; C.C., Jr., Ervington; J.P. and Alton both of Cleveland, route one; five sisters, Mrs. Senria Newborn, Empire; Mrs. Ledie Phillips, Tarrant; Mrs. Ruth Logan and Mrs. Bertie Higginbotham, Oneonta, route one, Mrs. Girtha Jones, Oneonta.
Funeral services were held August 18 from Allgood Baptist Church, the Rev. Edd Culler and the Rev. Ira Tidswell officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Logan, Elvin Reno, Carl Hays, Biff Bentley, Ray McCord, and John Roan. Burial was in Tidwell Cemetery. Lemley Funeral Chapel in charge.
