Daily review 3/4/1893
Andrew Dennis, who has been in a critical condition for some time from paralysis, at 3 o'clock yesterday morning received another severe stroke. Drs. Moore and Barnes were both summoned at once and did all that was in the power of medical skill to relieve his suffering, which was intense. His son-in-law, Rev. Abner Cobb of Springfield who was with him during the day, yesterday at 3 o'clock sent a telegram to Charles Dennis, one of the business managers of the Chicago News Record, appraising him of the fatal stroke. It was hoped the he would arrive in time to see his father alive, but such was not the case. The aged sufferer breathed his last at 6 o'clock last evening.
The deceased was nearly 70 years of age and was one of the earliest and most respected citizens of this county. He was a consistent and sincere member of the Christian church, universally esteemed for his integrity and upright character. He leaves a wife, one son and a daughter, Mrs. Abner Cobb. He also leaves quite a large estate.
