AN OLD RESIDENT-Mrs. Katherine Tait Died at Her Home To-Day; LIVED HERE FORTY YEARS- And was Widely Known Throughout the county-Had Been ill Since Last January-Funeral Sunday—Mrs. Katherine Tait, the widow of the late J. D. Tait, died at 10:40 a.m. today at her home, 210 East Jefferson street, aged 76 years. Mrs. Tait had been confined to her bed since last January, when she suffered an attack of the grip. A complication of diseases caused death. The maiden name of the deceased was Katherine Dennis and she was a native of Ohio. She had lived in Macon county for 40 years. She was first married to Samuel Rea, who was for two terms, county clerk and who died in 1878. The deceased was married in 1883 to James D. Tait, who died three years ago. Mrs. Tait was a sister of Andrew, John and David Dennis of this county, and one other brother, all of whom are dead. She was the last of a family of nine children. Mrs. Tait had no children, but was a stepmother of F. B. and Joseph Tait of Decatur. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, among whom are James, John and George Sheets, Joseph Dennis and W. a. Dennis, all living in this locality. The deceased was a member of the Universalist church. The time of the funeral has not yet been decided upon but will probably be held Sunday.

MRS. TAIT'S FUNERAL. // Services Conducted by Rev. Mr. Cook of Leroy.-Burial at Greenwood.—The funeral of the late Mrs. Catherine Tait was held from the Congregational church at 2:30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Mr. Cook, pastor of the Universalist church at Leroy, Ill. and president of the Universalist churches of Illinois, was in charge, assisted by Rev. W. c. Miller, pastor of the Congregational church. As the casket was borne to the altar the choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Gher, Mrs. George Howard Fuller and D. L. Bunn, sang "Nearer My God to Thee." During the services the anthem, "Lead Kindly Light" was rendered, and as the body was borne from the church they sang "Rock of Ages." At the grave there were brief services consisting of prayer and a selection by the choir, "Life Has Many a Pleasant Hour." The pall bearers were Joseph Tait, F. B. Tait, Charles H. Brown, Deputy Sheriff Wilson, Edward Bassey and John H. McCoy. The funeral was largely attended. Mr. and Mrs. Louderbeck of Piatt county were present. Burial was made at Greenwood.
