Sallie was born as the daughter of Marshall and Sallie Unknown Osborne. Though her death certificate show NC as the birth state, we believe she was probably born in VA and is shown on that 1840Patrick Col., VA, census with her parents. On subsequent census it did show VA as the birht state, but regardless of where she was born she lived most of her life in NC. She was a postmistress. She never married and was age 77 at her death. The 1900 census show her as head of household and her sister Victoria living with her. It is known that she did provide for that sister as long as she lived. Sallie died of nephritis.
