My Great-Great Grandmother. Rachel was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Cuthbert) Johnson, pioneer settlers of Robertson County, Tennessee in the 1790s. In 1839 she married George A. Smith of Logan County, Kentucky, which borders Robertson County to the North. The Smiths settled in Logan County where George and his family had a good deal of farmland. They had 7 children before Rachel died in 1855. Rebecca (died at 4 yrs.), Christina, Joseph J.(my Great-Grandfather), James, George O. (died at 18 mos), George H., and William Logan.
