My Great-Great Grandfather. George was the son of Henry and Christina Smith, pioneer settlers of Logan County, Kentucky in the 1790s. He was one of 12 children,4 of whom died before the age of 7... 3 in one year. The Smiths became prosperous farmers in Logan County as well as across the state line in Robertson County, Tennessee.

On December 1, 1839 George married Rachel Johnson. They had 7 children before Rachel died in about 1855; Rebecca (died at 5 yo), Christina (Mason), Joseph Johnson, James S, George O, (died 18 mos), George Henry and William Logan. The Smiths farmed 300 acres of land just south of Adairville in the vicinity of Smith's Grove Road.
