Services for Walter L. Fortner, 86, Ada, are 10 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of Criswell Funeral Home, the Revs. John Keith and Mickey Keith conducting the rites. Burial will be in San Francisco, California.

Mr. Fortner died Tuesday, June 4, 1985, at a local hospital. He was born August 13, 1898, near Heavener, to John and Ada Heathcote Fortner, and came to Ada in 1977 from San Francisco.

Mr. Fortner was a retired security guard at Franklin Hospital in San Francisco, a member of the Evangelistic Temple, and a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army.

He and Pearl Board married in 1946.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorene Pugh, Cheney, Kansas, and Billie Lager, Harper, Kansas; two sons, J. T. Fortner, Wichita Kansas and Odell Fortner, San Antonio, Texas; a step-daughter Mary Ellen Epperly, San Francisco; a step-son, Kenneth Board, Tulsa; two brothers, Elmer Fortner , Roswell, N.M. , and John L. Fortner, Clayton, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carrie Blevins, Ada, and Emma Ingram, San Pablo, California; 18 grandchildren.
