Co. Man Fatally Injured Wednesday
Almon L. Trobaugh, 55, route 3, Sulphur, was killed in a truck accident Wednesday morning, August 31 near the United States Asphalt Company plant between Sulphur and Dougherty.
Trobaugh apparently lost control of his loaded gravel truck when it crossed the railroad tracks there at about 10:30 that morning. The truck went off an embankment, traveling 62 feet after leaving the road, before coming to rest in the creek bed.
Highway Patrolman L. W. White, who investigated the accident, reported the truck bed broke in half when it landed in the creek bed, causing the load and part of the truck to shift forward, pinning Trobaugh in the cab of the truck.
The accident was discovered by Lon Pugh approximately 45 minutes later. After help was summoned, it required about one hour to remove Trobaugh from the truck.
Funeral services for Trobaugh were conducted from the chapel of the Dunn Funeral Home to Sulphur Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. E. C. Mehagen assisted by the Reverend Staggs conducting the services. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery.
