Santa Maria, Calif. -- Services will be at 2p.m. Thursday at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home in Topeka, Kan., for Mrs. Leona Frances Rice, 89. formerly of Topeka. She died Saturday at a Santa Maria Hospital.
She was born March 1, 1892 in Whitewater, Kan., The daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Cope Jones. She lived in Topeka most of her life until she moved to Santa Maria three years ago. Mrs. Rice was a member of Menninger Bible Study class and Westminster Presbyterian Church, both of Topeka.
She was married to Carl E. Rice who died Dec 12, 1953. Survivors include a son, a sister and six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Rice will lie in state after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
