Ralph "Whitey" Royer, 83, of 12955 Old Forge Road, Waynesboro, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in his home. He had been critically ill for the past two weeks. Born May 23, 1924 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Garfield and Maude (Holtzman) Royer. He and his wife of 59 years, Doris J. (Bonar) Royer, were married Dec. 31, 1948 in Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. They moved to the present residence in 1960. Mr. Royer attended Waynesboro schools. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to retiring in 1986, he was an owner and operator of Royer Brothers Masonry
Contractors, Waynesboro. Mr. Royer enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, David Royer, Douglas Royer
and Bradley Royer, all of Waynesboro, and Jeffrey Royer of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, James Royer of Paramount, Md., and Samuel Royer of Waynesboro, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded m death by four sisters, Janet White, Hazel Keough, Mildred Spangler and Catherine Gardenhour, and five brothers, John Royer, Paul Royer, Donald Royer, Richard Royer and Robert Royer.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev.
Michael Newman officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
