Howard W. Hardcastle, 70, of Colorado City died May 28 at St. Luke Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 31, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spear, pastor, officiating. Masonic rites were conducted at the Westbrook Cemetery. Kiker-Seale Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Born July 4, 1917 in Killeen, he married Ava Hines July 30, 1937 in Sweetwater. He owned and operated Hardcastle Refrigeration for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member and past master of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 563. He was a member of the Scottish Rite [& Easter Star].

Survivors include his wife, Ava, of Colorado City; two sons, Stan Hardcastle of Arlington and Larry Hardcastle of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Hubert Davis of Lampasas and Mrs. Jack Thaxton of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Willard Hardcastle of Sedona, AZ and Jack Hardcastle of Corpus Christi, and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tom Moore, Santos Reyes, Virgil Stone, Phil Hall, Olman Sweat, Arlene Morris and Joe Boyd.
