Mrs. Charles H. Schroeder, 69 of Kiel, died last night in Milwaukee, following a
prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Monday at the St. Paul's
Evangelical and Reformed Church of Kiel. Burial will be in the Kiel City
cemetery.
Mrs. Schroeder was born Martha Gast in Germany in 1877. She came to the United
States with her parents in 1893 and the family immediately settled in Kiel, where
the deceased has always lived.
In 1895 she was married to Charles Schroeder. The couple celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary, August. 3, 1945. She was a member of the Kiel church's senior
choir, the church Frauenvrein and the Women's Missionary Circle.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Irma of Milwaukee and Mrs. Gilbert
Klaeser of Whitewater; a son, Clement of Kiel, two brothers, Paul of Brillion and
Charles of Milwaukee and a grandson. The body may be viewed at the Meiselwitz
Funeral Home at Kiel from Sunday noon to 10 am Monday after which it will lie in
state at the church until time of services.
