Mrs. Joe Brisco, 69, Funeral is Held
SHERIDAN -- Mrs. Joe Brisco died Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Laughlin Hospital in Eagle Lake following a stroke. She was 69.
Last rites were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist church here with Rev. William Lee of Hempstead in charge. Burial was in the Cheatham cemetery.
Mrs. Brisco is survived by 7 children and 3 step-childern. They are Mrs. Web Willis, Mrs. Rufus Sechelski, Henry Brisco and J.L. Brisco, all of Sheridan; Mrs. Plas Holster of Yoakum, Mrs. George Rypple of Weimar, Jack Brisco of Eagle Lake, Mrs. Maude Fuller or Sheridan, Mrs. Howard Spittler of Caldwell and Alvie Brisco of Cuero.

Obituary for Mrs. Mattie Briscoe
Mrs. Mattie Briscoe passed away at the Laughlin Hospital in Eagle Lake Sunday evening Sept. 18th at 3:45 p.m.
Mrs. Briscoe suffered a stroke at her home in Sheridan Friday, September 9th and was taken to the hospital the following Monday.
The deceased was born February 15, 1886 at Goliad, Texas the daughter of Sylvester and Tiny Gilcrease. She came to Sheridan at an early age where she later married Joe R. Briscoe. Eight children were born to this union seven of whom survive as follows:
Joe L. Briscoe, Mrs. Wilbur Willis, Mrs. Rufus Schelski and Henry Briscoe, all of Sheridan: Jack D. Briscoe of Eagle Lake: Mrs. George Rypple of Weimar: Mrs. Pleas Holster of Yoakum. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Mrs. Harley Fuller of Sheridan, Mrs. Howard Spittler of Caldwell and Alvie D. Briscoe of Cuero thirty-eight grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews: and one sister, Mrs. Florence Briscoe of Sheridan. Friends join in extending sympathy to the family in the loss of their loved one.
