Adrian Herbert Dake, rural Munden, KS, died unexpectedly on his farm on Friday, September 17, 1993 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Adrian was born to Calvin and Lucy (Ferguson) Dake on April 18,1916. Adrian, the second of four children, was born, raised and died on the same homestead farm. He attended Lowland Grade School and graduated from Chester High School in 1935.

Mr. Dake loved to farm and did so on the same farm all of his life. In this later years, he participated in community parades with his 1929 Ford pick-up, antique cars and his horse and buggy. He enjoyed family get-togethers and community suppers. Adrian was currently serving on the Hubbell Cemetery Board and the Chester Rural Fire Dept. Board. Adrian was well known and appreciated for his active Sunday afternoon visitation of friends, family and elderly and hospitalized acquaintances in the surrounding communities. Friends and neighbors knew him for his committed 'neighborliness.'

Though Adrian was unmarried and had no children, he considered and treated his nephews as sons and he enjoyed a mutual respect from his nephews and nieces.

Mr. Dake was a member of the Community Bible Church in Chester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth; one nephew, Lester Carpenter; and two great-nieces, Donna Kay Stradley and Janelle Dake.

He is survived by two sisters, Frances and her husband Harry Stradley of Hubbell, and Martha Agee of Wheatridge, CO; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy (Dake) Kump of Oberlin, KS; seven nephews, Lyndon Carpenter, Lincoln, Carl Stradley and good friend, Darlene Pratt, Hubbell, Wayne and Darla Dake, Milford, NE, Loren and Leslie Dake, Sioux City, IA, Glenn and Debi Dake, Edgerton, KS, Neal and Karen Dake and Merle and Cindy Dake, all of Chester; two step-nieces, Patty (Agee) and Bill Barker of College Cotner, Ind., and Mary (Agee) and Rick Edwards of Wichita, KS.; seven great-nephews, Travis and Ryan Stradley, Joshua, Lance, Chris, Bryan and Logan Dake, and eight great-nieces, Mandy, Kasi, Lisa and Kari Dake, Martha, Maysel and Heidi Barker and Laura Edwards.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 30, 1993 at the Community Bible Church in Chester, NE, with Rev. Jim Woldhuis and Rev. Ray Berry officiating. Mrs. Wilbert Crouse and Mrs. Jack Long sang and Mrs. Glenn Davenport was organist. Pallbearers were his nephews: Wayne Dake, Glenn Dake, Merle Dake, Loren Dake, Neal Dake, Carl Stradley and Lindon Carpenter. Honorary casket bearers were Herman Baloun, Wesley Coonrod, Dale Pressnall and Max Larkins. Burial was made at the Chester Cemetery.
