Kenneth Calvin Dake, son of Calvin C. and Lucy Ferguson Dake, was born on Jan. 20, 1921 at rural Munden, Kan. and died on Dec. 14, 1989 at his home in Chester at the age of 68 years.

Kenneth attended Lowland rural school and graduated from Chester High School. He attended Rose Creek Chapel during his early years, later was baptized and became a member of the Chester Church of Christ where he was serving as an elder at the time of his death.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater of operations, stationed in England.

Kenneth farmed in the Chester and Munden area all of his life.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Jones on Aug. 26, 1950 and to this union five sons were born, Wayne, Loren, Glenn, Neal and Merle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin, in 1952; his mother, Lucy, in 1973 and a granddaughter, Janelle, in June of 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five sons and five daughters-in-law, Wayne Dake and his wife Darla of Hebron, Loren Dake and his wife Leslie of Sioux City, Iowa, Glenn Dake and his wife Debi of Edgerton, Kan., Neal Dake and his wife Karen, and Merle Dake and his wife, Cindy, all of Chester; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Many and Kasi, Lisa, Lance and Logan, Chris, Bryan and Kari; one brother, Adrian Dake of rural Munden; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Stradley of Hubbell and Mrs. Martha Agee of Wheatridge, Colo. other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ of Chester at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, conducted by the Rev. David Walters. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic).

Mrs. Wilbert Crouse and Mrs. Jack Long were singers accompanied by Mrs. Frieda Truss, organist.

Honorary casket bearers were his high school classmates, Harold Larkins, Robert Moxham, Russell Burton, Elmer J. Heider, Walter Poppe, Robert Barnes and Willis Mumm.

Casket bearers were Wilbert Crouse, Harold Crouse, Randy Kniep, Larry Rundus, Jean Larkins and Max Larkins.
