The following obituary was published in the Texas Coaster on December 3, 1942:

"W. A. Potter, Sr."

Funeral services for W. A. Potter, Sr., were held at the home of his son, W. A. Potter, Jr., in Rosenberg, Friday, November 20, 1949 at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. M. Myers of Fulshear, conducted the services, assisted by Dr. W. G. Fletcher, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Rosenberg, in the presence of relatives and a host of friends, who came to pay their final respects to one of Rosenberg's oldest citizens. The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg had charge of funeral arrangements. Interment took place in the Klauke Addition to the W.O.W. Cemetery, by the side of his wife who preceded him in death one year, four months and eight days.

The following served as pallbearers, J. E. Junker, Perry Mueller, Elwood Maris, G. E. Fain, E. W. Foote, L. R. Board, Ernest Zwahr and I. A. Elkins.

The large floral offering attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.

Mr. Potter was born on August 15, 1863, five miles north of Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas, having reached the age of 79 years, three months and three days at the time of his death, Wednesday at 2:25 p.m. November 18, 1942.

On March 26, 1885, he married to Miss Litha Tilda Willard. Mr. and Mrs. Potter moved to Rosenberg on January 1, 1902, where they remained until their deaths.

Mr. Potter's health had gradually failed after his wife's passing and on July 18, 1942, he became bedfast, remaining in that condition until his death.

Deceased is survived by three sons, Wiley Daniel of Houston, Lewis D. and William Ambrous Jr. of Rosenberg; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Adams of Houston and Mrs. C. L. Davidson of Douglas, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Jack Roach, Mrs. Dempsey Phillips, Chloe Ellen Potter and Edward Adams of Houston, William Ambrous Potter 3rd (Billy) of A. & M. College, Helen Beth Potter of San Marcos, Lucille Potter of Rosenberg and David Lee Davidson of Douglas, Arizona. One great-grandchild, Connie Sue Phillips of Houston. * * *
