The following Obituary was published in the Herald Coaster on Sunday, October 21, 1973:

"William Ambrous Potter, Jr."

William Ambrous Potter, Jr. was born in Fairfield, Texas, February 20, 1893, son of William A. Potters, Sr. and Litha Tilda Willard Potter. There he lived until January 1, 1902 when he and his family moved to Fort Bend County where he was to live until his death.

Potter was a pioneer resident having resided in Rosenberg for 71 years. He worked for the Railway Express Agency for 35 of those years. During World War I, he served two years with the artillery in the 90th Division.

He returned to Rosenberg on October 15, 1921 married Helen Mary Chalk of San Antonio. They had two children, William A. Potter III and Helen Beth Potter.

Potter retired from the Railway Express Agency and worked for 9 1/2 years for the Rosenberg Police and the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department.

For the past few years he and his wife have lived in retirement. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Potter is survived by his wife, Helen M. Potter, a sister Mrs. Charles Davidson of Beaumont, his son and daughter, two grandchidren and several nieces and nephews. * * *
