DEATH NOTICE - Published in "The Indianapolis Star" newspaper on Sunday April, 8, 1917, on page 25

ELLIS --- Jonathan, son of Mrs. Jane Ellis,
died at St. Vincent's Hospital Friday April
6, 1917, at 8:30 p.m., age 24 years. Fu-
neral at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. G.
Isgrigg, 2706 Bloyd avenue, Monday,
April 9, 1917, at 2:30 p.m. Burial at
Crown Hill Cemetery.

ADDITIONAL NOTE - Jonathan Ellis was the last known son and child of Nehemiah H. Ellis (1831-1906) and Mahala Jane Melson (1850-1928). Jonathan was married on Nov. 2, 1910, in Indianapolis to Thressa L. Jones, daughter of Jewett W. Jones and Minnie B. Wheeler. Jonathan's wife died in Indianapolis on March 22, 1917, and Jonathan died 15 days later at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Because they died just two weeks apart at such a young age I have to believe they must have died as a result of some epidemic that was occurring in their area in 1917.
