Leo Michael Goblirsch was born on 01 February 1913, the oldest son of Michael Jacob and Rosa Jenny (Serbus) Goblish. He attended the old District 12 School in Henryville Township. He married Alvina Amy Ahrens at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls on 26 November 1935. Leo was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn, Minnesota.

Leo Michael Goblirsch died at the age of 56, on 13 November 1969. He was a lifelong resident and farmer in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota. He was plowing a corn field on his farm near Bechyn when he suffered a massive heart attack and died on his tractor. His cousin, Billy Serbus, found him slumped over the steering wheel. The tractor was still running; but, the implement was no longer traveling, due to the fact that the plow had lodged in a furrow.

It was the second time within a week that tragedy struck the Goblirsch family. Leo's daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gerald (Sandy) Goblirsch of Redwood Falls, suffered a brain hemorrhage, on 7 November 1969, while she was at work at Control Data in Redwood Falls. She died on 8 November and her funeral was held on 11 November 1969, just 2 days prior to Leo Goblirsch's death.

Leo was survived by his wife, Alvina Amy (Ahrens) Goblirsch; 4 sons, Robert Leo (Donna) of Willmar, Gerald Francis of Redwood Falls, Richard Dale (Patricia) of Minneapolis and Daryl Dennis at home; 2 daughters, Ruth Ann (Roger) Schroer of Frankfurt, Germany, where her husband was stationed with the US Air Force, and Darlene Marie (Donald) Pasbrig of Olivia; 6 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Rosa Goblish of Olivia; 2 brothers, John E. Goblish of Olivia and Henry J. Goblish of Danube; and 4 sisters, Sister Margaret of Fargo, North Dakota, Irene (Stanley) Houdek and Marie (Edward) Wertish of Olivia, and Rose (William) Kohout of North Redwood.

Funeral services for Leo were held on Monday morning, 17 November 1969, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bechyn. Monsignor Stanislaw Grabowski officiated. Pallbearers were Leo's nephews, Henry Houdek of Olivia, Eugene Kohout and John H. Goblish of North Redwood, Bernard Goblish and Joseph Wertish of Minneapolis, and Russell Rohlik of Springfield.

Interment was in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Redwood Falls. The Hoepner Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral and burial arrangements.

It should be noted that Leo's birth was recorded in the Renville County Courthouse as "Mike Goblich." (Notice a different first name and a different spelling of his surname.)

Years later, Leo's father, Michael Goblirsch, changed the spelling of his last name to "Goblish"; but, Leo changed his back to "Goblirsch." Some of Leo's siblings left their last name as "Goblish," and others changed it to "Goblisch."
