He was born Jan. 15, 1926 in Monticello to William Ora and Lena Blacker Stiverson. He married Minnie L. Helm on Sept. 2, 1944, in Junction City, Kansas. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Paula Ainsworth and Julia Ferguson; a son, Ron Stiverson; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Betty Wright.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the field artillery.
Richard was a retired contractor. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.
