Monticello-Betty Elizabeth Wright, 94, of Monticello, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Betty was born on April 12, 1921 in Piatt County, Illinois, the daughter of Wm. Ora Stiverson and Lena (Blacker) Stiverson. She was one of twelve children who have all preceded her in death. She married Robert Wayne Wright December 25, 1940. Betty and Bob raised their family in Monticello then moved to Texas. She moved back to Monticello for retirement after Bob’s passing.
Surviving are her daughters Carolyn Spencer of Oreana, Joyce Eades of Carterville, Ruth Humble of Daingerfield, TX, and Linda Lanier of Mansfield, son Tom Wright of Ft. Worth, TX, eleven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and granddaughter Keri Humble.
Services to celebrate Betty’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Forest Preserve Park in Monticello. Private family burial will at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Memorials are suggested to “Faith in Action” of Piatt County, 1115 N State St #160, Monticello, IL, 61856.
