Mary R Powell was born on March 17, 1799, probably in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Her parents were Ransom Powell and Miriam Rowland Powell. She married James Walker 8 Jul 1818 in Rutherford County. Some say her middle name was Rebecca but there are no documents supporting that assumption. She is always listed as just "Mary R."
