Lebanon Patriot, Thursday, March 21, 1901:
Mrs. Samuel McKinsey -- Her family of ten children present when she passed away.
Mrs. Jane Montaque McKinsey died last Saturday morning at her home three miles north of Lebanon. She was seventy-six years of age and had been in feeble health for the past two years. She suffered a stroke of paralysis of the brain March 7 after which time she was unable to take any nourishment. She was the wife of Samuel McKinsey who survives her, and the mother of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy, the remaining ten being at the bedside of their mother when she passed away. They are Cuthbirth of near Thorntown, Margaret Boyd west of Lebanon, James of Thorntown, Hugh of Muncie, Martha J. Barker of Thorntown, Lavina Moore of Reese Mill, John S. of Thorntown, Joseph of Logansport, Bettie Hill north of Lebanon and Willie Miller of Hazelrigg. She also leaves thirty-five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. McKinsey was born in Rockbridge county, Virgina and removed to Indiana settling in Jefferson township, Boone county, in 1865. She had been married for fifty-five years. When sixteen years of age she united with the Presbyterian church at Lebanon, Virginia. When she came to this county she joined the Presbyterian church at Shanondale, then transferred her membership to Dover when the church organized there, and then on her removal to Lebanon put her membership in the Lebanon church. The funeral of the deceased was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. E. Price officiating, after which the remains were interred at Oak Hill cemetery.
