Former Resident Is Buried Near Lebanon
Funeral Services of Mrs. J. W. Moore Held Wednesday; Died at Mechanicsburg
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning for Mrs. J. W. Moore from the home in Mechanicsburg, and interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery at Lebanon.
Mrs. Moore, who died Monday, was well known in this city and had resided here at one time.
Mrs. Moore was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, and was 74 years old at the time of her death. She was twice married, the first time in 1872 in Boone county to Luther D. Denny who passed away in July 1889. Her marriage to J. W. Moore, who survives, occurred at Frankfort on May 5, 1895.
Mrs. Moore was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. She opened her home to a number of orphans and while her own children were small took William Elsey into her home where he grew to manhood.
Surviving are six children Nancy Bramblett, Clara Lewallen, Arthur A. Denny, all of Lebanon and Boone county; Victoria Moore, of Bloomington; Harry Denny of Anderson, and Adren L. Moore of Martinsville; four step-children, Mrs. Lora Lenox and Wilbur Moore, both of Lebanon; Samuel Moore of Gosport, and Allen Moore of Martinsville; two sisters, Betty S. Hill of near Thorntown, and Willa Ann Miller of near Whitestown; two brothers, James A. and M. S. McKinsey of near Thorntown, and several grandchildren.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Mechanicsburg.
