Billy Edward Shumate, son of Joe and Maudie Elsie Vaughn was born February 2, 1936 near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life, November 25, 2009 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 73 years 9 months and 24 days.

On May 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to Doris Jean Terry. She preceded him in death January 13, 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Irene Morgan, Virginia Adkins and Alice Hahn; four brothers, Fred, Joe Bill and Russell Shumate as well as an infant brother, Paul.

He is survived by three daughters Jeannie Walker, Lebanon, MO, Myra Wynn and her huband, Brad, Hartville, MO, and Debra Tadlock and her husband, Larry, Tunas, MO. Seven- grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Joey, Noah, Crystal, Jeffrey, and Brian. Four great-grandchildren, Nick, Baily, Jaden and Matthew. One brother, John Shumate and his wife, Nondis, Lebanon, MO, Three sisters' Ivah Stewart and her husband, Ernie, Lebanon, MO, Kathryn Wimberly and her husband, Raymond, Lebanon, MO and Patsy Brown and her husband, Bob, Lebanon, MO; a sister in law, Pat Shumate also a special nephew, Danny Porter.

Billy lived his entire life in the Lebanon area. He worked throughout his life in the agriculture field where he sold fertilizer. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist
Church.

He loved being outdoors and especially loved to hunt with his nephew , Steve. He also loved camping, fishing. He loved working in his saw mill and going to garage sales with his daughters. His family was the most important thing in his life and he cherished his children, grandchildren as well as his brothers and sisters.

He will be long remembered as a great dad, granddad and brother as well as a caring neighbor and friend.

Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday November 30, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Dotson Cemetery. Visitation under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
