John A. Eppard

ELKTON - John Adam Eppard, 86, a well known resident of this section Wednesday evening at this home near here. Mr. Eppard had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Eppard was born Feb. 16, 1873, a son of the late Daniel W. and Ardena Hensley Eppard. He married the former Miss Lois [sic] Hensley, June 20, 1895 and she died three years ago. He was a member of the Furnace Methodist Church and superintendent of Furnace and Hensley Church for many years.

Mr. Eppard is survived by eight children, Kemper Eppard, of Stanardsville; Elmer Eppard, Edward Eppard, Wilson Eppard, Orville Eppard, Lewis Eppard, Mrs. W. D. Hensley and Mrs. Everett Smith, all of Elkton; two brothers, D. B. Eppard, of Stanardsville and A. F. Eppard, of Elkton; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Hensley, of Elkton and Mrs. Abbie Hensley, both of Elkton; 36 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Furnace Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd M. Lucas and the Rev. A. Randolph Martin in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Elk Run Cemetery.

The body now rests at the Brill Funeral Home here where it will remain until Thursday afternoon when it will be taken to his late home near here.

Grandsons will act as pallbearers.
