Hanekamp, Lydia Melissa— Mrs William H Menking died at her home in Geneva at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, 4 March 1931. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis a few days before.

Lydia Melissa Archer was born in Coates, Illinois, on 10 December 1868. She came when but a small child with her parents to Fillmore County, Nebraska, settling in the Chelsea community.

She was married 7 March 1888 to Henry Klein Hanekamp.

They had 5 children, all of whom survive their mother. Mrs Bertha Goeury of Lodgepole, Nebraska

On 16 June 1924 she was united in marriage to William H. Menking, who also survives her.

In early life she joined the United Brethren Church at Chelsea, later the Methodist Church and after moving to Geneva, transferred her membership to the church here.

She had been in ill health for some time and on 20 February suffered a paralytic stroke from which she failed to recover. The end came in the evening of 4 March 1931. She was 62 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Funeral services were held in the United Brethren church in the charge of Rev. E. H. Pontius. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.

She is buried next to her 1st husband, Henry Klein Hanekamp.
