Mrs. Mabel Bechtel Shearer, 70, wife of Luke E. Shearer, Glen Rock RD 3, died Friday at 10 a.m. at York Hospital after a nine-month illness and a week's hospitalization.
Mrs. Shearer was born in Hanover, a daughter of Mrs. Eltia Karichuf Bechtel, 222 Spring Avenue, Hanover, and the late William Bechtel. She lived at Spring Grove RD 2 until three years and was a member of Barts United Methodist Church, Hanover RD 1, and Bethlehem United Methodist Sunday School, Jefferson.
Surviving also are three children, Mrs. Melvin Krebs, Glen Rock RD 3; Elmer W. Shearer, Spring Grove RD 2, and Mary N. Shearer, 252 East Princess Street, York; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Rebert, Hanover RD 1; Mrs. Martin Drucker, Falls Church, Virginia, and Mrs. Kenneth Reilley, 223 Spring Avenue, Hanover, and a brother, Maynard Bechtel, Owens, Virginia.
The Rev. Harold Rosenberry and the Rev. Arthur W. Garvin will officiate at the funeral Monday at 2 p.m. from the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery.
