Services Held For Glenn L. Thomazin
Glenn L. Thomazin, the son of Thomas and Frieda (Albers) Thomazin, was born March 28, 1915 at the Burrows Township near Platte Center. After a short illness, he passed away December 20, 1992, at the Butler County Hospital in David City.
Mr. Thomazin graduated from St. Edward High School in 1933. he served from 1942 to 1945 during World War II in the Army Air Corps.
On August 5, 1946, he married Cecilia Cahill at St. Edward Catholic Church. The Thomazin farmed from 1946 to 1963 in Nance County. In 1963, the family moved to a farm in Polk county, south of Shelby. In 1981, the couple moved into Shelby.
Mr. Thomazin was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 296 of Shelby and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cleo Nauenburg.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia; three sons, James of St. Edward, Patrick of Lincoln and Nicholas of Gresham; one daughter, Joan Steinmann of Lincoln; one brother Wilber of St. Edward; two sisters, Mildred Werts of St. Edward and Lola Iverson of Columbus; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 23, 1992 from the Sacred Heart Church in Shelby. Rev. Maurice Current officiated.
Honorary pallbearers were Dave Moore, Dr. Kenneth Thomazin, Jim Krumbach, Richard Schaf, Keith Werts and Allen Werts. Pallbearers were Jamie Thomazin,Jim Beeck, Max Thomazin,Leo Mahoney, Dan Curran and Marvin Konz.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Shelby.
