(Fitzpatrick) Pitchford and grandson of Fletcher and Mary (Calvert) Gatewood. John is one of twelve children were born to Nero and Elizabeth. The twelve are Mary Edward, Emma A., William George, Laura D., Catherine Winston, Elizabeth Bettie, Clay, James Emory, John Jasper, Loula, Bruce and Finis.
