Tecumseh, Okla., resident, John Chesley Parson, died Sunday at the age of 91.

Parson was born June 7, 1904, in Wharton, Ark., to Homer and Bertha (Phillips) Parson. He grew up near Wharton Creek, Huntsville, and Kingston.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. Parson married Bernice Casey on May 19, 1937, in Muskogee, Okla.

Parson, a livestock dealer and trader, was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howard, Garland, and Dorsey Parson.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Parson of the home; three sons, Lee Parson of Moore, Okla., Jack Parson and Punkin Parson of Tecumseh, Okla.; one sister, Ruby Elam of Riverside, Ore.; four brothers, Bill Parson of Huntsville, Everett Parson of Ontario, Calif., Sam Parson of Marble, and Ford Parson of Springdale; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Services were held July 18 at the Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh, Okla., with the Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial was at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
